Just start. Take action.
There’s no perfect time and there will never be a perfect time.
So, stop waiting and just as importantly stop “planning”.
Very rarely do plans work out exactly as we design them to.
While it’s important to know where we want to go, there’s never any reason to plan everything out to the smallest and final detail.
Sure, this approach may feel comfortable but it only does so because we’re delaying the inevitable… Taking action.
Taking action requires guts. It requires courage. For when we take action there’s the possibility of failure.
Yet, it’s through failure where we succeed. Not to mention that the biggest successes are byproducts of the biggest failures.
Therefore, we must find the strength to put ourselves out there and push our limits. We must confront our fears and get comfortable being uncomfortable. Then we must defy our perceived limitations.
Further, we must recognize that it’s ok to fail. But only if we use that failure to propel us forward and reach new heights in our career.
Always remember that failure is never final unless we stop taking action. Put another way, failure will never overtake us if our determination to succeed is strong enough.
The Ascent is a series where I document the experience of building YPE. It’s written from the following perspective: Advice I give to myself based on the lessons learned every day.
